Ariel Pytrell is an Argentine writer, poet, playwright and essayist, and stage director.

He was born in 1964 and grew up in Quilmes, near Buenos Aires. Many of his books were translated into English, French, Italian, and Portuguese.

His academic background is eclectic: from theatre to cinema, from performing arts to literature at the University of Buenos Aires; Philosophy, Mythology and Writing.

He lectures on the ancient Greek world, the Argentine writer J.L. Borges and J.R.R. Tolkien. Apart from having trained actors in classical and modern acting techniques for thirty years, he is also, as of 1990, responsible for several stage productions (comedy, drama, tragedy, living arts).
